International recognition

The international recognition agreements facilitate the access on the export market. The accreditation bodies can become signatories of the following types of agreements:

  • at the European level of EA-MLA (Multilateral Agreement)
  • at international level of IAF-MLA, respectively ILAC-MRA (Multilateral Recognition Arrangement).

An accreditation obtained from an accreditation body signatory of one of the above mentioned agreements, is recognized in Europe and worldwide, for the scopes comprised in that agreement.

EA-MLA is the European agreement, through which the signatory parties recognize each other's granted accreditations and the reports/certificates issued by the entities accredited by it. This agreement is signed for different scopes and has as principle periodic mutual evluation.

There is also a MRA at international level, between the IAF , respectively ILAC members.

IAF-MLA offers confidence in the accreditation bodies and in their ability to determine the competence of the certification bodies. The accreditations granted by the IAF-MLA signatories are recognized worldwide on the basis of the equivalent accreditation programs, reducing in this manner the costs and adding value to industry and to consumers.

ILAC-MRA offers confidence in the accreditation bodies and in their ability to determine the competence of a laboratory in performing testing and calibration. Confidence facilitates the acceptance of the testing and calibration results between the countries where the results can be demonstrated that they come from accredited laboratories. The last ones help to reduce some technical barriers in trade.
