Accreditation steps

A conformity assessment body (CAB) can apply for accreditation.

RENAR accredits: Calibration and testing (including medical analysis) Laboratories, Certification and Inspections Bodies, Environmental verifiers (EMAS), Providers of Proficiency Testing. The validity period of the accreditation certificate is 4 years. Estimated costs: depending on the accreditation application and according to the approved tariffs.

The first step that a CAB is it to start the accreditation process is to download and study the portofolios of informative documents. They can be found in this section of the site RENAR. Subsequently, the CAB submits an application for accreditation / extension, accompanied by documents required by RENAR file.
Preliminary visit can take place with the consent of the CAB. This visit may result in identifying deficiencies in the applicant's system of accreditation, CAB, or its competencies.
The accreditation process begins only after the signing of accreditation contract. Accreditation contract is not negotiated, its provisions are the same for all CABs requesting accreditation or are accredited. Accreditation contract is signed in three copies, of which two copies remain in RENAR and one copy belongs to CAB.
This step is the analysis of relevant documents and records submitted by the CAB. The OEC assesses management system requirements to determine the standard and criteria for accreditation.
In the initial assessment to verify compliance with applicable standards OEC activity. If idenfiticate nonconformities, they are discussed in the closing meeting with representatives of the CAB. OEC established a plan for solving identified noncompliance will be sent within the time specified accreditation body RENAR policies.
To check the closure of non-conformities found in the previous stage, will conduct a follow-up evaluation. This can be done either at the OEC, either at the RENAR, depending on the nature of non-compliance (technical or management system).
Information provided by the evaluation team are reviewed by the Accreditation Council will decide on granting accreditation / extension of the CAB. If granted accreditation, be issued an accreditation certificate valid for 4 years from the date of the decision.
During the period covered by the certificate of accreditation (4 years), at certain periods set out in documents RENAR surveillance assessment is made. These assessments ensure that the CAB meets RENAR accreditation requirements continuously.
Reassessment takes place only at the request of the CAB and runs similar to an initial assessment, is equally comprehensive.
