History

Romanian Accreditation Association, having the acronym RENAR, is a non-governmental, non-profit organization, constituted based on the provisions of Law 21/1924 with subsequent modifications, its legal status being granted by the decision no. 1966/07.08.1990 (file 1975/ PJ /1990) of the Civil Court of Sector 1, Bucharest. The Association is formally recognized as unique national accreditation body by Government Ordinance 23/ 2009 and based on the provisions of (CE) Regulation no. 765/2008 and operates under the coordination and surveillance of the Ministry of Economy. The legality of RENAR's activities is surveyed in accordance to the applicable in force regulations.

RENAR respects the provisions of the following regarding its organization and operation:

  • Government Ordinance no. 26/2000 on the associations and foundations with the subsequent modifications and completions;
  • (CE) Regulation no.765/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 July 2008 setting out the requirements for accreditation and market surveillance relating to the marketing of products and repealing Regulation (EEC) No 339/93;
  • Government Ordinance no. 23/2009 regarding the accreditation activity of the conformity assessment bodies;
  • The reference harmonized standard for the accreditation bodies SR EN ISO/CEI 17011;
  • The documents issued by the European and the international organizations in the field of accreditation, which constitute the basis for the mutual recognition Agreements of accreditations.

 

About RENARIn order to demonstrate the conformity with the criteria established in the reference harmonized standard for the accreditation bodies, RENAR is peer evaluated by European Co-operation for Accreditation, which is recognized by the European Commission, after consulting the member states, as the European accreditation infrastructure based on the provisions of article 14 of the Regulation no. 765/2008.

 

RENAR was evaluated and accepted as a member of the EA-MLA agreement for the following scopes:

  • Testing laboratories, including medical laboratories;
  • Calibration laboratories;
  • Quality management systems certification bodies;
  • Environmental management systems certification bodies;
  • Product certification bodies.
